GROUP THERAPY IN MIAMI
The Power of Groups: Connections, Support and Knowledge.
THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
Do you wish you had more of a sense of community in your life instead of feeling alone?
Group therapy is different from individual therapy because the sessions take place in a group setting run by a therapist. In group sessions, people are able to share their thoughts and experiences, to the extent they feel comfortable with, and receive support from the therapist and others in the group who understand what you’re going through.
Group therapy provides valuable mental health support from a skilled clinician along with a sense of community from others going through similar challenges.
DBT Groups
Learn and practice DBT Skills to improve your quality of life:
Develop emotional awareness: gain a deeper understanding of your emotions so you feel less overwhelmed and can respond effectively to life challenges.
Learn healthy coping strategies to manage intense emotions resulting from interpersonal conflict, disappointing situations, criticism, etc.
Improve communication so you can express what you need and say how you feel in a way that improves relationships.
Our groups are a great addition to any treatment process. To join a DBT Skills Group you don’t have to be part of our DBT program. If you have another therapist or don’t have one but are interested in our group only options, reach out to us for more information.

What are DBT Skills?
DBT Skills provide clients with the tools they need to navigate their feelings, thoughts and behaviors more skillfully. These are the four groups of skills clients learn and practice:
Mindfulness: Become more present, reduce worry & rumination, increase enjoyment of daily life & increase focus and attention.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: Ask for what you need, learn to say no, build healthy relationships & reduce conflict.
Distress Tolerance: Regain control, learn to relax & soothe, effectively manage difficult events, accept what you can’t change and solve.
Middle Path: Identify and move away from black and white thinking, see situations from multiple perspectives, develop psychological flexibility
Emotion Regulation: Build healthy habits, understand your emotions, increase self control, decrease suffering.
